Molloy College is a private Catholic college in Long Island, New York that provides more than 50 academic undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs. Students can earn degrees in a variety of academic programs including: liberal arts, social and natural sciences, nursing, business, education, social work, speech therapy, music therapy, theatre arts, criminal justice, new media, and many more.

Molloy's main campus is located in Rockville Centre, less than an hour from Manhattan. In 2016 Molloy was ranked as the #1 Value All-Star in the United States by Money magazine ranking it ahead of all other Long Island colleges. Molloy was also ranked by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report as one of the top colleges in the Northeast. Molloy graduates' starting salaries have ranked in the top five in the nation in recent years, based on surveys conducted by PayScale.com, and according to a recent study from Georgetown University, Molloy ranks 17th in the nation among four-year colleges for producing highly paid graduates. Additionally, College Factual ranks Molloy as third in the country for colleges offering studies in the healthcare professions. For the 2015-16 academic year Molloy was also named the #1 college to earn a Nursing degree by College Factual. Molloy has a 90% student retention rate, which is among the highest in the nation.

Molloy's student body numbers around 4,900 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. In recent years, it has added new facilities, including two residence halls, a student center and a performing arts theatre. Additionally, a new state-of-the-art nursing facility opened for the Spring 2016 semester. The nursing building houses the first named school on the Molloy campus-- The Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing. Molloy offers an expanded international education program, over 60 clubs and honor societies, service opportunities, internships and NCAA Division II sports teams.

History

In 1941 the Sisters of St. Dominic purchased 25 acres in Rockville Centre. In 1955 the Dominican Sisters of Amityville founded Molloy Catholic College. It was established as a Women's college appointing Mother Anselma Ruth, O.p., PH.D., as the first president. A year later the first institutional building called Quealy Hall opened. Soon after, Mother Bernadette de Lourdes, O.P., was appointed as the second president followed by the opening of Kellenburg Hall. In 1959 the first commencement ceremony took place celebrating the first graduating class. In 1971 its name was changed to Molloy College. In 1972 it began accepting men into the nursing program and in 1982 became fully coeducational.

Student Life

Molloy College offers over 60 clubs and organizations. Some are founded on academics but others are centered around a cultural theme.

Molloy's Student Clubs and Organizations

Dorm Life

Molloy offers two residence halls that house over 250 students. In the fall of 2011, Fitzgerald Hall opened to offer students housing. Dorm spacve was in huge demand among students so in the fall of 2014, a second dormitory opened named Maria Regina. Both dorms are co-ed but the halls and wings are separated by gender. The students living on campus have a choice of three different meal plans and also the school provides daily shuttle service to local places such as dining, shopping, or the train. The residents are also offered free laundry and printing. Maria Regina has its own gym in the basement as well as a common room with a pool table, ping pong table, TV, and couches. Fitzgerald Hall offers a lounge area with a TV, couches, and various games. Each dorm has computers and printers that are beneficial to all students.

The Madison Theatre

The Madison Theatre at Molloy College opened in the late fall of 2011. The 550-seat theatre hosts a variety of world-class performers from the world of theatre, music, dance, cabaret, comedy and more. Molloy's November 12, 2011 Gala Event opened the theatre and was written by Alan Zweibel. Madison Theatre's Artistic Director is Angelo Fraboni, a Broadway performer who has produced and managed a range of Off-Broadway productions and tours.

Athletics

The athletic program is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division II. The teams are known as the Lions. The College has 17 athletic teams: seven men's (soccer, basketball, lacrosse, cross-country, baseball, indoor track & field, and outdoor track and field) and ten women's (softball, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, tennis, bowling, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, and cross-country) with women's rugby slated to become a varsity sport in 2016-17. In addition to the Molloy Men's and Women's Rugby Clubs, the College's club sports include the equestrian team and the cheerleading and dance squads.

The Molloy College Softball team earned a trip to the College World Series during two out of the last five seasons. Also, during 2014-15 Molloy had two of its' student-athletes named All-American selections.
